Aarhus CTTH Workshop 2012

Capillary transit time heterogeneity and regulation of the microvasculature

Time: 6 - 8 December 2012

Place: Palle Juul-Jensen Auditorium (DNC Auditorium)
Danish Neuroscience Center, Aarhus University Hospital, Building 10G, Nørrebrogade 44, 8000 Aarhus C.

Meeting Objectives

To address the relations between Capillary Transit Time Heterogeneity (CTTH), Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) on Brain Metabolism. In particular:

  • How can we measure and model capillary flows patterns - and their joint impact with CBF on the extraction of solutes such as Oxygen and Glucose across the Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB)?
  • How are capillary flows patterns regulated via cerebral blood flow, by local innervation, by local cellular activity and by elements of the BBB such as endothelial cells, pericytes and astrocytes?
  • How do local metabolism, innervation and other signaling regulate CBF and CTTH to meet the metabolic needs of neuroglial activity?
